Mala Agarwal, founder and Managing Director of Athena Care Homes has scooped up the accolade of Business Woman of the Year at the Asian Business Awards.

Athena Care Homes was born in 2014 and has since grown to a five home group, totalling 585 beds. All the homes within the Athena group are rated ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission.

2019 marked the 22nd year of the Asian Business Awards, where British Asian entrepreneurs come together to celebrate their successes over the year. The evening comprised of many special guests, including members of parliament and industry leaders.

Care organisations were heavily featured this year, with Mala leading the way in entrepreneurial success. The success of Athena is partly down to the family run nature of the business. As the group has expanded, it has not lost touch with how they started out, focused on providing a high quality of care for their residents.

Mala said “My mum has always been my inspiration and she herself was a true entrepreneur who guided me on the path to become a successful business woman.”

“I learnt early on that the most successful businesses value their people and recruit the best team. Athena truly appreciate the fact that they have an enigmatic, highly skilled and dedicated team. We have a shared goal and empower and motivate each other, to bring the very best outcomes for our residents.”

Athena care homes are trailblazers further than just the business awards. They’re paving the way in digital care, meaning management can monitor the quality of care being given across all their homes. This is making it easier than ever to ensure the family values that the business was founded on are still being adopted across the growing group.

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulation Mala and her team on their on going success and look forward to seeing the business flourish even further in the future.
